Maid for Master

I spent the better part of this week in another state shopping for a new home. The realtor said by the end of it we’ll be creating our own house in our heads putting a bathroom with a different livingroom and adding a kitchen from a different house. Oy! Was he right! My head is spinning with all the houses we’ve seen. I have to tell you, we looked at one house that was … interesting. There was no way to save the house from itself. There was an indoor pool (empty and without a liner) and an outdoor pool and bedrooms that just … weren’t. The realtor looked at me when we were alone in the kitchen, smiled and said, “there’s nothing to be done here, but blow it up and start again.” I nearly busted a gut. Our realtor is normally very stoic and says very little. But the man was right.

Anyway, we found some beautiful neighborhoods with houses that needed renovating and some beautiful houses we could move into in places we’d rather not live. I’m not sure what we’re going to do at this moment. All I know is now that I’ve returned home, there are boxes begging to be packed. I have two weeks left to get it all done. One foot in front of the other …

On the writing front I have to admit I didn’t get anything more than blog posts and a couple of guest posts written. My current WIP is just a couple of scenes away from being finished. I just need to buckle down and pound out the words and find my Happy-Ever-After for my lovers. I’d like to finish it before I move at the end of the month. Goal stated.

I did get a really nice 4 CHERRY review from Whipped Cream Reviews for MAID FOR MASTER. This is part of what Mistletoe had to say …

I enjoyed this book right from the start. Claire is a strong woman who can stand on her own. Yet as a submissive she decides to give up control to her Master. Whether he is Master or just plain Jonathon he is a wonderful man who will do anything for love, including keeping a secret from Claire and hoping that, when he reveals it, his heart is not torn out. Watching the two together makes for one hot read. Claire blossoms as a submissive and the love that grows between the two is wonderful…it includes some scenes that were very intense and very hot! I enjoyed this book so much and was happy to see the love and trust between the characters. Nina Pierce does a wonderful job of pulling the reader in and keeping you glued to the pages. I will definitely be on the look out for more of this author’s books in the future.

I’ll end today with an excerpt from “Maid for Master:
Jonathon dropped the cell phone into the oak drawer of his desk, grateful for the interruption. He’d been sitting in his office below Paradise Cove’s main club for the last hour trying to figure out how to handle Claire. No—not handle—men had been doing that her entire life. The woman needed someone who loved and respected all sides of her—the devoted mother, the caring daughter, the submissive lover as well as the corporate executive with an advanced business degree.

He could be that man—wanted to be that man.

Guilt and fear knotted cold in his gut. He’d come close to confessing everything this morning at breakfast. Seeing the gold band winding delicately around her biceps had sent his heart into overdrive. He wasn’t sure how Claire would react when she woke this morning in one of the staff lounges and found he wasn’t there. He had feared she’d feel abandoned once again and throw it all away. Thank God she hadn’t.

He’d tried to steer her toward the idea of the two of them together, but even his heartfelt confession of love hadn’t been enough to open her eyes to the possibility that there could actually be something between them. The disappointment had wrapped tight around his heart and he’d grabbed her computer, looking for a diversion.

Jon had fully expected to see that Claire had been pining over her ex-fiancé, which she’d done. But a few clicks of her internet history had brought up the XTC Resort website and its staff photos. His heart had skipped several beats knowing she’d been surfing their website. Of course he had no way of knowing exactly what she was trying to find, but he’d hoped she’d been looking for him. Well, not him but Master Xavier, the Dom who had held her last night as she’d allowed herself to purge the anxiety and discontent blinding her heart.

Jon understood how little she valued herself. Knew she believed she didn’t deserve to find a fulfilling relationship. Claire’s life had been nothing but one compromise after another.

Well, he planned to change all of that.

Crazy week packing and writing and packing and organizing and packing, oh, and did I mention packing? The Pierce house has certainly accumulated enough … STUFF. (Sooo not the “S” word I wanted to use. *g*) I still have hopes of finishing my WIP before the end of February, which means I totally need to get my butt in gear. But I’m plugging away and I am half way through and it’s looking pretty good if I may say so myself.

And of course Valentine’s Day was this week so I need to give a shout out to Mr. Nina. You see, we usually buck the whole Hallmark Valentine’s stuff. But this year it just seemed wrong that we weren’t at least together to decide we didn’t want to celebrate it. But my honey had flowers delivered and had given my daughter a box of chocolates when he was home last with instructions to give it to me on Valentine’s Day. Awww … he totally made my day. Sometimes Mr. Nina does all right in the romance arena. 😉

I also finished some uber easy edits on my Naughty Nooner “Mated Bonds”, part of my Shifting Bonds series. I’ll let you know when I have a release date for that. I suspect it won’t be too far in the future. (And if you didn’t catch it … it will be FREE!)

Today I’m hanging out with Misty at Up All Night E-Books. She offers a little free promotion and I’ve got “Maid for Master” up today.. Mwah! If you’ve got a minute stop on over and show her some love and check out the books she has posted.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

As any of you who have visited here before know, I’m VERY visual. When I’m writing I have pictures of my hero and heroine open in a document. I’ve done searches for scenes whether it’s an alley or a beautiful hotel suite. I need to see it to describe it.

Okay, so I’m writing a sequel to Maid for Master, that’s taking me back to XTC Resorts and the world of hedonistic clubs and BDSM. This means I’m often searching the internet for pieces of equipment or sexy toys or … ya know … whatever. I have my Google safe search set to “off” which means things could get a little dicey on my computer when I hit the search button.

Since the daughter that’s currently living with me is off at college classes or work, I’m left on my own to do these searches without worrying what’s going to pop up on the screen. But there have been times when she walks into my office at inopportune moments. Now, it’s not like my children don’t know what I write. Still, no one wants to know their mother looks at stuff like that. It’s sort of like hearing your parents in the throws of passion. You know it happens … you just don’t want it confirmed.

I’ve become very adept at shutting windows on my computer at lightening speed when the door opens. But I know evidence of my naughty explorations is written in the guilt on my face. I’m a grown woman. I love what I write. But I still feel funny when sexy pictures are open on my computer, even though I use them to create sensual scenes in my stories. It’s an odd juxtaposition.

So what about you? Do you have a guilty pleasure you keep hidden? Something you know isn’t really wrong, but would make you blush if you got caught?

First off, I’d like to thank everyone who hung out with me on my recent blog tour. I had a blast visiting other blogs and hearing from so many of you. So, earlier this week I threw every commenter’s name in a hat (okay, there were so many I had to use a box, but you get the idea). I shook them up, held the box over Baby Girl’s head and she pulled out a name. Congratulations to …

from California
Fedora won a box of goodies from my prize closet, including a 2011 Ellora’s Cavemen calendar and copy of Healer’s Garden.

Tracey won a digital copy of Bonded Souls.

I also had 3 wonderful reviews this week for “Maid for Master”.

DARK DIVAS gave it 4.5 DELIGHTFUL DIVAS and Lily said …

Maid for Master is a wonderful read that doesn’t candy coat the road that Claire and Jonathon have to take in the BDSM world in order to become a couple. Ms. Peirce does a fantastic job of making each of the characters seem human and with that they each have their own set of faults and issues to work through. While at times I wanted to strangle both of them, this was a delightful read that I truly enjoyed and will read again in the future!

MANIC READERS gave it 4.5 STARS and Patrizia said …

The story is warmly and gently told and we realize from almost the beginning how much Jon cares for Claire and the lengths he will go to make her happy…Maid for Master is a kinder, gentler type of D/s and it showed much more love and caring than many I have read. I liked it.

NIGHT OWL REVIEWS gave it 4.25 STARS and Elf said …

Maid For Master is a novella that follows the journey of a woman who finds that she is ready to explore her darker submissive sexual nature and discovers that the Master who is willing to train her has only been waiting for her awakening…A nicely steamy tale…

I’m snoopy dancing all over the house. Since I left excerpts all over the internet last week I won’t post another one. But how about another look at the book trailer?

I’m a little homesick. I’ve spent this week bumping around the blogosphere visiting with other authors and chatting about Maid for Master. But even I’m a little tired and looking for a break. I’ve got three more stops. Check THIS POST and find out what stops I have left. This coming Wednesday I’ll choose a person at random from all those who commented on the various blog posts to win a box full of goodies including my book Healer’s Garden.

On the writing front I’ve had a really good week. I did shoot something off to my editor at Ellora’s Cave and should be hearing something in a few weeks. In the mean time my muse and I have come to an understanding. She understands I NEED her to stay put and play with me and I’ve come to understand she needs more hot showers, space heaters, and wine to survive this crazy-cold and snowy month. The bribes seem to be working. We’ve been a finely tuned machine this week cranky out the words. (Let’s hope we can keep up that New Year’s resolution through the end of the month.)

On a personal front … I am jumping up and down and screaming with joy. Most of you know I have multiple sclerosis. I can walk around my home, but it is becoming increasingly difficult for me to get around malls or hotels. For years, and I do mean years, my neurologist and I have been trying to convince my insurance company that a motorized wheelchair would improve my life significantly. Finally, FINALLY a chair arrived at my door step on Friday. There’s still the question of how we’re going to transport it, but expect to see me and my sexy new wheels and writer’s conferences this year. I CAN NOT wait. It’ll save me from all kinds of difficulties that have kept me home. Yay!

So what are you up to this weekend? Any special plans?

I’m on the 5th day of my 9 day blog tour. Still chatting about Maid for Master. But today’s post also includes my feelings about this crazy profession of writing. Stop on over at Julia’s blog today and share some comment love with me. I don’t want to get lonely.

Pssst … don’t tell my muse that I mentioned she was fickle … we’ve been having a really productive week.

HERE I COME!!

For the next ten days I’m touring the Internet, visiting friends, sharing a little bit about myself and chatting up my newest release from Ellora’s Cave, Maid for Master.

Here’s the schedule:

Amber Skyze: Jan 17
Tina Donahue: Jan 18
Adele Dubois: Jan 19
Romance Books R Us: Jan 20
Julia Barrett’s World: Jan 21
Taige Crenshaw: Jan 22
Francesca Hawley: Jan 24
Renee Vincent: Jan 25

On Wednesday, January 26 I’ll choose one commenter at random from the various blog stops to win a box full of goodies including my novel Healer’s Garden. I hope you’ll travel with me. There are some wonderful friends hosting my tour!

I’m going to admit I spend all day on the computer, but do very little internet surfing. I have places I hang out, but I don’t have a regular route of blogs I visit. I find posts via other people who post the links on the loops I frequent. If they didn’t, I wouldn’t see some really good, thought provoking stuff. I just want to share with you some great places I’ve been this past week.

Like Maureen Johnson’s great post on social media and a call to authors who choose NOT to brand themselves. (Note: This blog was posted in the summer, but this is the first time I’ve seen it.) This approach isn’t for every author, but she makes some great points. Everyone is screaming for authors to get out there and market themselves on every social media platform available. Yes, I believe it’s important to market onesself, but I really like Ms. Johnson’s take on things.

Julia Barrett did a great three part series on “The Secret Success of Romance”. Unfortunately, the people who need to see this post aren’t the smart and talented readers and authors stopping by. It really needs to get out to the people out in the blogosphere who still believe the romance genre involves Neanderthal Dukes bullying women and virgin waifs who do nothing but simper and whine. It’s a great series. You should check it out and then repost it … perhaps it will go viral and help educate the masses who wouldn’t pick up a “bodice ripper” novel if their life depended on it.

And this shout out goes to a good friend, Constance Ruth Clark whose debut release is coming out in May 2011 from Lyrical Press. She’s been blogging for awhile and now is on bed rest for a couple of weeks. Why don’t you head on over there and show her some comment love, she could use the company.

Of course I’ve got internet surfing on the brain as I’m gearing up for a two week blog tour (which is kind of like a virtually book signing without the fur of having cookies and coffee) to promote “Maid for Master“. Here’s the schedule:

Dirty Sexy Books: Jan 12 RELEASE DAY!
Amber Skyze: Jan 17
Tina Donahue: Jan 18
Adele Dubois: Jan 19
Romance Books R Us: Jan 20
Julia Barrett’s World: Jan 21
Taige Crenshaw: Jan 22
Francesca Hawley: Jan 24
Renee Vincent: Jan 25

I’ll be posting different guest spots and there will be a give away to one lucky commenter chosen from all the guest posts. So please stop by and say hello to my hosts!

And of course if you have some time on your hands, feel free to swing over HERE. It’s become one of my favorite places to hang out and drool. 😉

Wow! Thank you to ROSALIE LARIO and CLAUDIA CELESTIAL GIRL, regular visitors to The Block, who both honored me with this blogging award. *blushes* Awww … thanks ladies.

I started blogging when I signed my first contract. It just seemed like I had so much to say and just needed a place to get it all out. The fact that people take time and stop over to read my ramblings is pretty humbling. But it’s fun to chat with all of you.

Now, as I understand I need to share seven things about myself. Okay …

1. I LOVE Christmas and my cellar is filled with decorations which explode inside and out turning my house into a Christmas wonderland (except this year because it’s all packed. 🙁 )
2. I started dating Mr. Nina when I was 14 … a lifetime ago.
3. I used to be a teacher which satisfied the actress in me that needed an outlet. *vbg*
4. I’ve actually been in a cadaver lab in college and thought it was pretty cool.
5. I love wine. No, not just have a glass now and again … nothing makes me happier than finding the right wine to go with a meal.
6. I grew up in the country and my siblings and the neighborhood kids used to take our runner sleds out to woods at and sled down this HUGE hill into a field. Yep, we did this as teenagers. It was a blast!
7. I actually went to school for a year to be computer programmer, but I’m about as technically challenged as it comes. Yeeeah, teaching was a much better choice for me.

And now I need to pass this on to other bloggers that I enjoy. It seems many of the blogs I enjoy reading have already been bestowed this honor, but I did want to pass it on to a few of my favorites.

* Kathy Kulig
* Tina Donahue
* Lex Valentine

I hope you’ll take some time and visit these wonderful blogs and give them a shout out.

And my lastest news? I got the cover for my newest novella coming soon from Ellora’s Cave, Maid for Master Druuuuuummmm roll please …

Isn’t that just gorgeous? Syneca does an amazing job with all our covers. Mwah! Thanks!

And here’s the BLURB:
Treat herself to a carnal weekend at the hedonistic retreat, XTC Resorts? That’s not something Claire Calderwood, a three-time loser in the relationship department would ordinarily do. But at forty-one, having a successful cleaning business is no longer enough. She wants a chance to let go of all responsibility, submit to a stranger’s sexual demands and satisfy her darkest fantasies.

Jonathon Brierton has known his best friend’s sister long enough to recognize her submissive nature. He would like nothing more than to have Claire bound naked and at the mercy of his flogger as he teaches her the sensual art of obeying her Master. At thirty-something, he’s a successful real estate developer, owner of a BDSM resort—and hopelessly in love with the older woman.

When Claire follows him to his resort, Jonathon is certain he can keep his identity secret long enough to convince her that being restrained in his stocks is something that will satisfy them both. But lies, deceit and broken hearts may not be so easy to overcome.

I don’t have a release date yet, but I’ll keep you posted!
