Welcome to another Six Sentence Sunday. After everyone  enjoyed this post last week from my BDSM novella, MAID FOR MASTER.I thought I’d up the heat level … just a tad.

“Beautiful,” he whispered as he admired the crystal-studded nipple and clitoral clamps. “Open yourself to the sublime pleasure of the pain, Claire and let it center you.” He leaned in, brushing his lips feather-light across her cheek, the heat of his words shivering across her skin. “You can do this. We both know it’s what you want. My pleasure comes from knowing how much you want to please me—and I am very pleased.”

Welcome to another Six Sentence Sunday. Because the reading world seems to have fallen for “50 Shades of Grey”, I thought I’d pull something from my own BDSM novella MAID FOR MASTER.

“Does the public dungeon intrigue you?”

A male voice, thick and rich as honeyed molasses shivered down her spine. When Claire attempted to turn, he pressed into her back, nestling his face against her neck so that only a whisper separated his lips from the shell of her ear.

Power buffeted her but didn’t smother and rather than drowning, Claire felt swaddled in the absolute security of this man. When she inhaled to speak, the clean scent of soap and fresh air filled her nose. “Yes.”

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday where I share six sentences from one of my stories. This week in celebration of Earth Day, I thought I’d share something “earthy” from my dystopian erotic romance, HEALER’S GARDEN.

They rode through the fields bareback, climbing into the hills. The grassy farmlands gave way to palm trees and exotic vegetation Jahara had never seen. Emerald leaves fringed large flowers in all shades of the rainbow, their honeyed aroma filling the air in a sweet fog. Birds hidden among the foliage warbled and sang, permeating the jungle with their melodious tunes. The air grew damp with humidity, surrounding them like a comforting blanket. It was a banquet for the senses and she closed her eyes, committing it all to memory.

Healer’s Garden is also available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble

Welcome everyone to my Earth Day celebration. I’m participating with all kinds of other authors in a weekend blog hop. We’re giving away a NOOK SIMPLE TOUCH loaded with all kinds of ebooks to one lucky participant who follows the whole tour bus between 4 am EDT FRIDAY, APRIL 20 through 4 pm EDT SUNDAY, APRIL 22.

Click HERE to join the beginning of the tour.

I love Earth Day. The first time I heard about it was in the mid-90’s. I travelled to Washington DC with my kids and they happened to have a whole celebration taking place on the mall. It was a lot of fun and very cool. I had always been an advocate of the earth, but that day really brought it home for me.

So what are some things you can do to protect the earth?

1. Think Green
Sometimes being eco-friendly is just thinking about something before you do it. Like refilling a mug at your local Starbucks instead of using a Styrofoam cup. Or packing your lunch in plastic washable containers rather than ziploc bags. I mean really … a picnic in a field with this guy sounds about right doesn’t it?

2. Conserve Water
Run your dishwasher and washing machine only when you have a full load. And of course you can take smarter showers by using low flow shower-heads. Better yet … shower with a friend.

3. Conserve Fuel
A car that gets 20 miles to the gallon emits 50 tons of carbon dioxide over it’s life time. Double the gas mileage and cut down the amount of air pollution. Cutting your mileage by combining errands helps cut back on the consumption of fossil fuel and for more conservation. At some point hybrid vehicles will be more affordable for all of us. Until then … wrap your arms around someone and share a ride!

4. Save the trees
Use rags instead of papertowels for cleaning. Don’t print out every memo or email at work. When possible print on both sides of paper. Be sure to recycle used paper. And to save more trees of course you should buy digital books! All the benefits of a print book without any of the waste of paper! Sometimes being a tree-hugger can be a sensual experience!

5. Throw Away Less Trash
And of course there’s the simplicity of recyling glass, cans, plastics and paper. Most towns have curbside recycling which makes the whole separating trash relatively painless.

And of course the best way to celebrate Earth Day is to go out and enjoy nature …

So there you have it, my tips for earth day! Hope you enjoyed the photo illustrations. I know some people are visual learners. (Sorry, I can’t help you tactile learners! 😉 )

If you leave me a comment and tell me which suggestion you liked the best or what little thing you do to protect Mother Earth. For every comment left on this post between now and SUNDAY, APRIL 22 at 4 pm EDT, I will donate $1 to the World Wildlife Foundation (up to $50). I’ll also choose one commenter to receive a print copy of Healer’s Garden (**NOTE: Shipping to US and Canada only. An international winner will receive a digital copy of Healer’s Garden and a $10 gift card from Amazon.)

Welcome to my weekling Six Sentence Sunday where I share a little snippet from one of my books. This week I’ll give you a little more from my shifter series. Bonded by Need is the next in my sexy erotic susepense “Shifting Bonds” series.

With the ease borne of years of shifting, the wolf before her rippled and shuddered until it too became human. The man towered over her, his fists planted firmly on narrow hips. The wild mane of dark hair framed the scowl on his face and stuck to his broad shoulders. She couldn’t stop her eyes from traveling down his furred chest and lower still over his flat belly to his aroused sex. A primal need pulled at her womb. Even angry, this man, her lover, was a powerful aphrodisiac.

Welcome to this week’s Six Sentence Sunday. I enjoyed last week’s selection so much, I thought I’d post another from my erotic suspense romance Bonded Souls.

I thought I’d give you another snippet (click HERE to view last week’s) between the hero, Cole and his best friend, Aaron …

Aaron leaned forward and said, “maybe she’s here because she’s the one the elders have talked about.”

Cole laughed, thinking his best friend had definitely fallen into a deep pool of crazy. “What is it about the blue moon that gets everyone’s heads thinking of legends and folktales? I didn’t peg you for someone who believed in that sort of thing.”

“Jesus, Cole, I’m not one of the village idiots seeking the Holy Grail. You know I believe only half of what I read and even less of what I hear, but watching the way everyone’s sniffing around this woman has got me thinking…that’s all I’m saying.”

Welcome to this week’s Six Sentence Sunday. This week’s selection comes from my erotic suspense romance Bonded Souls.

I love writing from a guy’s point of view. The following snippet takes place between the hero, Cole and his best friend, after Cole’s been betrayed by the heroine, Jayda.

“I guess I’m just a sucker for a sexy female claiming to know nothing about her shifter heritage,” Cole said.

“Tell me something I didn’t know.” Aaron settled in one of the utilitarian chairs across from Cole as the yellow lab laid her head on his thigh, her tail thumping happily against the side of Cole’s desk. “Don’t you find it a little odd that the leader of the cougar shifters showed up at the tavern only hours after Jayda sauntered into town?”

“I’ve been going over and over that all day and I can’t help thinking that she set me up. But for the life of me, I can’t figure out why.”

Welcome again to Six Sentence Sunday where I share six sentences from one of my books. This week’s snippet is from my shifter short novel, BONDED SOULS, a paranormal suspense story.

Lust and need had simply been forged in the heat of adversity, leading Jayda to believe it was something more pulling her toward Cole. This feeling was about the sex making the blood pulse hot through her veins and the touch of another human being–not about intimate connections or mating bonds.

Cole pulled from her mouth, his gaze raking her face. “As the police chief it’s wrong to want a witness this badly, but I can’t help myself. Tell me to stop now and I will. I’ll die a slow, agonizing death … but I’ll stop.”

I’d like to welcome erotic romance author Afton Locke. By day, Afton Locke is technical, but by night she swims in the mystical world of dreams. Intrigued by all things unexplained, like ghosts and karma, she delights in spinning dark, sensual stories that pull readers below the surface of everyday (and sometimes boring) life to the depths of forbidden fantasy.

What else would you expect from someone with her moon in Pisces and Neptune in Scorpio? She lives in the mountains with her husband, dog, and spooky black cat.

Her newest release, Plucking the Pearl, is available at Ellora’s Cave

BLURB:
When Pearl’s sheltered life shatters in the 1930s when her mother dies, her only option is to move in with poor family relations and shuck oysters in the local plant on Oyster Island, Maryland.

Determined to live a morally proper life, the last thing she wants is an affair with a white man, but Caleb, the plant owner, knows a pearl when he sees one. The successful widower is the “oyster king” of the island, but his intense desire for his forbidden new employee, a woman of color, threatens everything he’s built.

What begins as a private sexual liaison flowers into strong feelings that don’t fit the social mores of the island. When their secret is discovered, they risk losing everything. They dared to pluck the pearl, but will their love be strong enough to keep it forever?

“You’re standing awfully close,” she whispered.

“I am, aren’t I?” he whispered back. “Do you want me to move?”

Yes! No! Oh Lord, help me. I’ve never felt so weak.

“Show me the next step—with the oyster, that is,” she said quickly.

“Certainly.” He gripped her hand around the knife again and made deft movements to cut the meat from the shell. “Cut here and there. That’s all there is to it.”

“You make it look so simple,” she said, realizing he could pull her out of her shell just as easily.

When he stepped away from her, her legs nearly gave out. It was as if the hardness that had been nestled against her was the only thing that had been keeping her standing upright in front of the table.

He stepped beside her and she watched, fascinated, as he tipped the oyster half with the meat on it to his mouth. Watching the wet creature slide past the dark hairs of his moustache intrigued her in a way she couldn’t explain.

When he bent forward to kiss her, she was too aroused to refuse. His pale blue eyes came closer than they ever had and all she could do was stare helplessly into them. It was as if she floated higher and higher into the sky, never to set foot on firm earth again.

She felt his moustache first, hot and coarse, and then his lips, cooler and wetter. As his mouth worked over hers, something pushed between her lips. His tongue? She met it with hers, stroking with an abandon she refused to acknowledge as her own.

He tasted of the sea. No, not just one tongue. Two? She was too distracted by the heat boiling through her belly to care. When he removed his mouth, she realized he’d put the oyster inside her mouth.

Without thinking, she spit it out and it landed on the floor.

Caleb tipped his head back and laughed. It was a beautiful man’s laugh, musical and deep. Unfortunately she didn’t feel very amused.

“Now Ernie would have a fit if he saw you messed up his clean floor,” he said. “I take it you don’t care for oysters.”

She crossed her arms. “No, I don’t. I thought you had swallowed it. And you shouldn’t have kissed me.”

He wiped his hand on one of the clean rags nearby and she did the same. Then he leaned an elbow against the table and looked at her.

“Why not, honey? We’re not married.”

“In case you haven’t noticed,” she said, “we’re not the same color—or social class, for that matter. You’re the owner of this establishment and I’m just a poor—”

He put two fingers to her lips to quiet her. The lingering scent of oysters drifted from them, making her breathe faster. She was beginning to like oysters…

Maybe it’s because the winter has been so mild with no storms to make the news. Maybe it’s because the stars are out of alignment. Or maybe it’s because books are pushing the boundaries. I don’t know. But he end of last week, Paypal decided they weren’t going to allow payment for certain types of erotica. This affected all publishers using this method of payment including Bookstrand, All Romance Ebooks and Smashwords.

There are many authors/readers up in arms about this mandate. The interesting thing is that Paypal decided they were coming down on stories involving incest, rape as titillation, under-aged sex and besteality. Now I write erotic romance and the publishers that have accepted my books already had these stipulations. I wouldn’t want to write books with any of those topics anyway. So even though I got notification from two of the publishers above because I have self-pubbed with them, their notification didn’t affect me personally.

And though this stance is probably unpopular with authors who write erotica and erotic romance, I didn’t see a problem with Paypal’s decision. I’m not sure it’s the beginning of censorship as some have suggested. I don’t feel censored by Ellora’s Cave or Liquid Silver Books. I don’t think their readers feel they are restricting their desire to read stories with explicit sexual content. They haven’t widened the net to include things that some readers find objectionable, like anal and oral sex or multiple and same-sex partners or BDSM themes. But they have remained firm on certain sexual acts. I don’t think Paypal is going to widen their restrictions either.

And I don’t feel censored as a reader or an author. I think Paypal as a business has the right to make restrictions on the use of their services. I’ve listened to arguments on both sides and I just don’t see this as the huge out-of-control fire that some see beginning to burn. Dear Author did a nice job covering all sides of this controversy so I won’t rehash the facts as they’ve listed them. This could come back and bite me in the butt, but I don’t see this as a problem. But I’m still gathering information and reserve the right to change my mind.

What about you? How are you feeling about Paypal’s recent decisions?

Addendum (2/28 4:00 pm): I really appreciate everyone who has stopped by. Many of you have taken time to share heartfelt insights. I must admit, my view of this situation was narrow and based only on my personal experiences (despite reading blogs and listening to many of my writer friends discuss the topic). It is times like this when I realize as much of life as I’ve experienced, it is still possible to learn more through the experiences of others. I really didn’t see Paypal’s decision as mushrooming, but through your insightful comments, I certainly am looking at this situation differently. Thank you again for taking time to share your feelings and continue to educate me on the repercussions of Paypals policy change. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in the days to come.
